The 10th Tehran International Exhibition of Flowers and Plants will be attended by 246 domestic and 71 foreign companies from Norway, Italy, Spain, France, Canada, Sri Lanka, the Netherlands, and New Zealand over an area of 15,000 sq. m. and 4,000 sq. m. of open space.
Mohammad Ali Mokhtari, head of Tehran Municipality Parks and Green Spaces Organization, noted that the fair will be held from Monday May 7 to Friday May 11 at Goftegou Park. Flowers will be only sold after the closing ceremony on Friday.
Mokhtari said that Parks and Green Spaces Organization has plans to increase per capita green spaces in Tehran from 14 sq. m. to 15 sq. m. The official said ideal green space for every Tehran citizen is 25 sq. m. with the lowest area being in districts 7, 11, 10, and 17.
The official noted that the budget allocated to green spaces around Tehran has doubled this year and 40 percent increase has been made to the budget allocated to development of urban green spaces. The Tehran Municipality is planning to use 153 tall buildings to develop vertical green spaces.
