During a recent meeting between Tehran mayor and religious sources of emulation in Qom city, a report was offered by Mayor Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf on the activities of Tehran Municipality.


Tehran SAMA reported that Ghalibaf met with Ayatollahs Makarem Shirazi, Safi Golpayegani, Vahid Khorasani, Sobhani, Shobeiri Zanjani, Alavi Gorgani, Nouri Hamedani, Mousavi Ardebili, Javadi Amoli, Mohammad Yazdi, Moqtadaei, and Saeedi.

Ghalibaf stated that Imam Ali (AS) highway is a major project in Tehran which will connect the north to the south without any intersection. He then pointed to a 10-km tunnel and 10 km of double-decked flyover which will connect Niyayesh and Sadr highways in 19 months. Each year, he noted, about 30 km of subway tunnels are also dug.

Ghalibaf said Tehran has been without a detailed development plan for 40 years. But, he said, the plan has been formulated in the past few years. In addition, he said, the Sacred Defense museum, book garden, and Quran House are underway projects in Abbasabad neighborhood of Tehran.

The mayor also presented a report on reducing gaps between north and south Tehran, attending to the poor and the homeless, building special parks for women, and implementing cultural programs.

“You showed that if somebody wants to work, they can do it despite hurdles,” Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi said.

Ayatollah Mohammad Yazdi noted that Tehran Municipality’s services have been remarkable in all areas.

Ayatollah Lotfollah Safi Golpayegani stated that Tehran Municipality’s services were cause of pride for everybody.

Ayatollah Vahid Khorasani said Tehran cannot be compared to the past as many changes have happened.

Ayatollah Nouri Hamedani noted that many positive changes have taken place in Tehran.
