Preparing Matrices for Earthquake Damage to Concrete Steel Buildings, Construction Materials in Tehran

Abstract
Undoubtedly, among important and basic factors in designing a comprehensive crisis management plan, one is a realistic analysis of possible risks. One of the principles in the risk analysis is vulnerability assessment of elements composing the set and instruments for this measure are matrices and curves on the likelihood of failure or vulnerability indicators.
Given Tehran’s seismic conditions and special status of the city in political and social terms in the country, one of the major challenges facing Tehran metropolis is a possible strong earthquake.
In this dissertation buildings in Tehran have been defined on the basis of construction materials (masonry, steel and concrete), regulatory conditions, instrumental systems, and height as well as five destruction classifications: no damage, light damage, medium damage, heavy damage and complete damage. Finally, 45 matrices of possible earthquake destruction have been considered for all building samples on the basis of using opinions of experts and statistical analysis of received data with the help of SPSS and S-PLUS software.
