According to Tehran SAMA, the Mayor of Tunis said in his meeting with Ghalibaf that during his short stay in Tehran he had witnessed amazing progress in the IRI capital city. Congratulating his counterpart on these great achievements, the Mayor of Tunis noted that the changes that have occurred in Tehran are so tangible. He said his country was going a period of transition after the fall of its former dictator ruler and that it was moving in the course of progress while enjoying a revolutionary spirit.
For his part, Ghalibaf stated that Tehran owes its achievements and progresses to Islam and the revolution. He also expressed hope that the relationship between Tunis and Tehran would help improve the situation in both cities.
In another meeting with Chairman of Organization of Arab Cities, Dr. Ghalibaf noted that expansion of relations between Islamic countries was inevitable. This will help development spread in the region and result in progress. "I hope that under the chairmanship of Tehran over UCLG-MEWA organization the role of Arab cities will be improved and they will maintain a more active presence in the organization," Ghalibaf urged.
For his part, Chairman of Organization of Arab Cities stated that as chairman of the organization he had visited many Arab cities, however Tehran was a huge city which enjoys special status in the region. He said election of Tehran mayor as the new chairman of UCLG-MEWA will provide a good opportunity to improve the relationship between Arab cities and UCLG-MEWA. He also said the Arab city members of UCLG-MEWA were fully prepared to cooperate with Tehran mayor.
Head of the delegation and chairman of the Union of South Lebanon Municipalities for his part thanked the Municipality of Tehran for offering its top experiences to Lebanese municipalities. He also congratulated Dr. Ghalibaf on his achievements and expressed hope that Tehran chairmanship of UCLG-MEWA organization will help further transfer experiences on urban management and progress in the region.
