Observing “Passage of Venus” Possible at Milad Tower Observing “Passage of Venus” Possible at Milad Tower

Astronomical calculations show that people can see passage of Venus every 150 years and this year, it can be seen on top of Milad Tower in Tehran.


Shahr reported that the rare phenomenon known as passage of Venus in front of the Sun will be seen on June 6 across Iran and a special program will be held at Milad Tower in cooperation with Abdolazim holy shrine and Iran's Association of Amateur Astronomy. Other institutions such as Night Sky radio program, Astronomy monthly, Ava Star Center, and international occultation timing association (IOTA) are also taking part in the program.

The program will be on for gratis at Milad Tower on June 6 from 05:00 to 09:00 local time and registration is possible through http://tehranmiladtower.ir/nojoom website.

With suitable filters, the phenomenon can be even observed using naked eye. The next passage of Venus will occur 105 years from now.
