Tehran hosted the ninth International Documentary Film Festival Cinéma Vérité from Dec 13-19, screening the greatest film productions that revealed the best and the worst of our human life.

The ninth edition of the Iranian international documentary films festival, dubbed Cinéma Vérité, was held in Tehran.

Started on December 13 and ended on 19, the fest hosted various international productions during the 2015 edition of the prestigious award.

Many short and feature-length works by world-renowned documentary makers were screened in various categories of the event, and numerous professionals in various spheres of the art forms took part in the different workshops and expert panels during the gathering.

The themes were diverse, ranging from cultural ones such as the story of a mannequin, traditional ceremonies, and carpets to socio-political ones focused on the lives of Syrian refugees, war, and terrorism. One of the Iranian documentaries that attracted a lot of attention was “A157” directed by Behrouz Nouranipour, with a story of war and life in a refugee camp on the Turkish border with Iraq.

This year’s winners were honored during the closing ceremony held at Vahdat Hall on December 20.

Two productions by Loqmaan Khaledi, titled "Pruning Season", and Mehrdad Eskouei’s “Morning Dreams” won the best documentary feature price and turquoise figure of the national section.

The award for the best medium-length documentary of the international section was given to Argentinian filmmaker Martín Solá’s "The Chechen Family" while Iranian 'Bard' directed by Hamid Jafari won the top prize for the best short-length documentary.

The festival’s best documentary feature award of international section went to "My Love, Don't Cross That River" by South Korean filmmaker, Jin Mo-young.

Producer, Mehdi Shahmohammadi, was named the Grand Prix winner of the national section of the event for his film "Pruning Season”.

Organized by Iran’s Documentary and Experimental Film Center, the annual festival tries to promote an artistic expression of the relation between cinema and reality.
