Tehran Mayor Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf has participated in the ribbon cutting ceremony of a new fleet of electric metro cars in Tehran.

65 new electric cars came to operation in Tehran’s Subway fleet on Monday to expand the public transport system.

“Expanding the public transport system and other essential urban infrastructure in the capital is a top priority for Tehran Municipality in the next year, which starts in March, said financial deputy at the Tehran Municipality Qodratollah Goudarzi.

A large portion of the TM’s budget next year, proposed to increase to $5.6 billion (220 trillion rials) in the government’s budget presented to Majlis (parliament) on December 4, will go toward expansion of subway lines, purchasing and renovating the bus fleet, and completing urban projects.
