The eighth lactation room is  provided in line with the child-friendly city initiative which has been proposed by the City Council and the City.


The eighth lactation room has opened for breastfeeding and nursing infants in a quiet and private space for mothers at the Tajrish Metro station, northern Tehran.

The new room was provided in line with the child-friendly city initiative which has been proposed by the City Council and the City.

 “Currently some 16 people are working at the eight rooms and now we are planning on setting up places to take care of babies for some hours,” an official with Tehran Urban and Suburban Railways Company Ali Abdollahpour said.

The rooms include hand washing station, electrical outlets, glider rocker, end table, and soft lighting as well as pamphlets on maternal and newborn health.

The lactation rooms are part of a growing number of amenities being added to public transportation to make the traveling experience more convenient, comfortable and enjoyable.
