An exhibition titled “Trends and Approaches in Contemporary Iranian Art” has opened at Tehran’s Mellat Cinema Complex.
Paintings and sculptures by a large number of artists, including Nasim Abolqasem, Mahdieh Pazuki, Keyvan Asgari, Zahra Qiasi, Banafsheh Hemmati and Bita Vakili, were put on display in the exhibition, on Thursday.
“This exhibit is a review of works by three generations of artists and calligraphers,” curator Farnaz Mohammadi told the Persian service of Honaronline on Thursday.
“Works by artist ranging from 30 to 50 years old are on display here to highlight works of those who have been trained in the recent years,” she said.
She also added that works by contemporary sculptors have also been exhibited.
“I actually like to boost the economy of art. Most of the artists whose works are being shown are from among the famous ones and many collectors have welcomed the idea,” she remarked.
She added that most of the artists have created a special artwork specifically for the exhibit.
“For example, sculptor Mohammadreza Yazdi has created a huge sculpture specifically for the first floor of the complex and has worked on his project for several months,” she asserted.
The showcase, which will be running until June 9, has been organized under the auspices of the Mandegar Art and Culture Institute and the Beautification Organization of the Tehran Municipality.
