Tehran Mayor Mohammad Ali Najafi has met ICAPP Chairman Jose de Venecia during the 29th meeting of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties in the capital.
Tehran Mayor pointed the international cooperation potential of the capital Tehran and emphasized on the urban diplomacy between Tehran and Manila.
Jose de Venecia also mentioned the development of the diplomacy and hoped the sister city agreement between Tehran and Manila in near future.
ICAPP opened at the Hall of the Heads of states Summit in Tehran, Featuring a host of political figures from all around Asia, on Friday.
Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, Leader’s Advisor Ali Akbar Velayati, and Head of World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought Ayatollah Mohsen Araki addressed at the conference.
The topics that will be addressed in the conference include the role of parties in de-escalating tensions and confronting extremism, parties and sustainable urban development, as well as the role of parties in political development, cultural interaction, and trade development on Silk Road.
ICAPP is a forum of political parties of Asia-Oceania countries, which was launched in Manila Philippines in September 2000. The objectives of the conference are to promote exchanges and cooperation between political parties from different countries in the area and with various ideologies; to enhance mutual understanding and trust among Asian countries; to promote Asia's regional cooperation through the unique role and channel of political parties; and to create an environment for sustained peace and shared propoperity in the region.
