Tehran snow-capped mountains are home to some of the world’s best ski resorts where ski lovers can enjoy famous Iranian hospitality.
Dizin, Tochal, Shemshak, and Darbandsar, located within some 100 kilometers of the capital, are amongst uppermost ski resorts with international standards.
Overnight snowfalls in excess of 50cm are not uncommon at its two main resorts, in the Alborz Mountains north of Tehran. Shemshak is 2,550 meters high, and Dizin 2,650 meters, with slopes up to 3,500 meters, making it the highest resort in the country, with views of Iran’s tallest mountain: 5,610-metre Damavand.
The resorts also cater to desires of domestic holidaymakers and sightseers who seek to escape from the hustle and bustle of the metropolis.
Being quite high, the ski areas retain their snow quite well as the season usually stretches from November all the way through to May.
