Saeid Malekan’s The Lost Strait, the story of an epic battle by Iranian combatants during the last days of the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war, has been crowned best at the 36th Fajr Film Festival.
The film’s director Bahram Tavakkoli and Ebrahim Hatamikia shared the Crystal Simorgh for best director during the closing ceremony of the event that was organized at Tehran’s Milad Tower on Monday.
Bomb, a Love Story by Peyman Maadi received the special jury award for directing. The movie was a narrative about Tehran during the 1980s when the city was under Iraqi missile attacks.
Amir Jadidi for his roles in The Lost Strait won the award for best actor and Soheil Beiraqi’s debut film Cold Sweat.
Sara Bahrami was named for the Crystal Simorgh for best actress for the portrayal of an addict in director Behruz Shoeibi’s child trafficking drama Woodpecker.
The audience Crystal Simorgh went to director Hooman Seyyedi’s thriller, named Sheeple.
