A specialized recreational-sports program dubbed “Sports Street” was held in 21 District of Tehran Municipality in west of the city.
The programs which held concurrent with the day commemorating the “family and the retired” aimed to expand the sports and recreation programs and emphasize the necessity of improving the levels of physical activity among citizens.
According to municipal officials, the "Sports Street" was a place where citizens come together regardless of their ethnicity and socio-economic status and their common purposes and goals were conducting sport and physical activities.
The event also designed to encourage participation of citizens in indigenous and local games and all family members in conducting sports activities to consolidate the foundation of the family, develop and promote low-cost and accessible sports activities as well as revive the native and local games among children and adolescents.
Sports Street held for both women and men in the fields of darts, ropes, badminton, football, handicrafts, chess, volleyball, motorcycle games and intellectual games.
