The deputy Mayor for Social and Cultural Affairs said the house of Nima Yushij, the 'father' of modern Persian poetry in Iran, will be purchased in Tehran Province.
Assessing the ceremony marking the national day commemorating the prominent Iranian writer, thinker and political critic Jalal Al-e Ahmad, Valiollah Shoja Pourian said Tehran Municipality attaches great importance to safeguarding the historic cultural centers.
Shoja Pourian said Tehran Municipality has allocated 45,000 billion rials to buy the historic house of Yushij.
Nima is considered the father of modern Persian poetry as he founded a new movement in Persian poetry called the ‘new poetry’ also known as ‘Nimaic poetry’ in Iran.
He died in northern Tehran, and was buried in his native village of Yush, Nur County, Mazandaran Province in north of Iran, as he had willed.
