According to Tehran SAMA, Tehran Mayor Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said: “There is good cooperation between the Municipality and the Basij resistance force. Cultural activities would be conducted at culture houses, parks and other relevant centers. Simultaneously with the beginning of the Sacred Defense Week on Tuesday, the Sacred Defense Garden Museum will be opened as an unprecedented complex in the entire country.”
According to the report of the same new agency, Javad Khazraei, head of the Sacred Defense Garden Museum earlier announced: “After 10 days since its opening, the location is open to the public now. On the first ten days the garden museum was dedicated to those who played a role in the Sacred Defense (Iraqi war against Iran) such as families of martyrs, the disabled and former POWs.”
Khazraei added: “In construction of the Sacred Defense Garden Museum the conceptual aspect of this period was more considered by us and in this garden museum 80% of conceptual issues and 20% military equipment have been put on display. Now in this surrounding 14 cultural projects have been launched or are under establishment and we hope by the end of the calendar year 1391 (2012-2013) all cultural projects in this cultural hub would become operational.”
The Sacred Defense Garden Museum occupies an area of 22 hectares of land of which 45 thousand square meters alone is green space.
