Tehran Mayor, FIFF director meet

Tehran Mayor Pirouz Hanachi visited the 37th Fajr International Film Festival (FIFF) and met with the festival Director Reza Mirkarimi.

Mirkarimi briefed the mayor while he was visiting various parts of the festival.

Elaborating on the market section, Mirkarimi said, “The section is meant to be a place for marketing the cinematic works, as well as a hangout for filmmakers.”

Referring to the capacities of the cinema of Iran, the FIFF director said, “Iraq and Syria, the two neighbor countries, are planning for building cinema halls. If the Iranians can work in the two countries, we can feed their cinema halls, except for a small part, with Iranian products.”

At the end, Mayor Hanachi asked questions on the interior design of the FIFF Palace and the partition designing that were answered by Mirkarimi.

Answering a question about Tehran’s preparedness for hosting events such as FIFF, Hanachi said, “On the basis of international standards, Tehran has a huge capacity for hosting big events, but such festivals need to be held all across Iran and they should be expanded.
