The mayor of Tehran said in an online meeting with the mayor of London that Iran, despite the existing sanctions, has been able to take positive steps against the spread of corona and to control this disease to a significant extent.
Pirouz Hanachi, the mayor of Tehran, made a video call with Sadiq Khan, the mayor of London, and said in this virtual meeting: Iran is battling coronavirus and sanctions at the same time. What is troubling to us is that in the global crises, countries usually put their differences and problems aside and try to help each other so that the situation does not get worse. In the Bam earthquake, relations between the Iranian and US governments were similar, but the US government lifted sanctionsfor three months for helping the victims of the earthquake; but now the situation is not like that.
The mayor of Tehran pointed to the beginning of activities in Tehran and said: "Currently, some low-risk jobs in Tehran have started their activities in compliance with health standards, and even the traffic plan of central areas of Tehran has been stopped to put less pressure on the public transport fleet.
In this virtual meeting, Sadiq Khan, the mayor of London, also thanked for making the video call and said: "Many of the measures that were taken in London to deal with Corona are similar to Iran's actions and even Iran is ahead in this regard."
The mayor of London referred to the conditions of sanctions against Iran and said: "I will tell British government officials In my meeting with them about the problems of Tehran in relation to sanctions and I hope this problem will be solved soon."
