In an online conversation, the mayors of Tehran and Vienna shared their experiences with Corona and invited each other to visit their cities.
The mayor of Tehran, Pirouz Hanachi, said in an online meeting with the mayor of Vienna, Michael Ludwig: Although we are struggling with coronavirus and sanctions at the same time, we have tried to cleverly free the citizens from the hardships of this outbreak. Despite many obstacles, including sanctions, the production of masks and sanitary ware is essential to counteract the spread of the coronavirus.
He added: "Social distancing has been widely implemented in the country since the beginning of the new year, and with the management of the Ministry of Health, 72 million Iranian citizens have been screened."
Hanachi said: "In the peak days of the crisis, the medical staff worked in three shifts, some of them even gave their lives in this way, but the result was that fortunately, the number of coronavirus infections and casualties in the country has decreased."
The meeting continued with remarks by the mayor of Vienna.
Michael Ludwig said: "I think the mayors of the metropolises should have a close and friendly relationship without considering political issues, because these relations are in the interest of the citizens."
While praising Iran's activities in the fight against Corona, the mayor of Vienna said: "I congratulate you for reducing the number of patients and casualties through numerous measures."
