In two separate meetings with the mayors of Istanbul and Muscat, Hanachi spoke online to share their experiences dealing with the corona virus.
In order to expand diplomatic relations between the Iranian capital and the world's metropolises, the mayor of Tehran talked to Akram ImamOglu, the mayor of Istanbul, and Mohsen bin Mohammad bin Ali Sheikh, the mayor of Muscat, in a video call.
Hanachi said in these meetings: "Tehran bus and subway systems operated in quarantine conditions with about 19% capacity. In the acute conditions of Corona, we closed almost all the city's parks, and the possibility of intercity traffic was minimized. In the medical sector, the development of ICUs and special facilities and services for acute Corona patients were also on the agenda, which had a great contribution in reducing human casualties."
He added: "Our main problem during this period is the wrong behavior of the international community on the issue of sanctions. Even the United States is acting differently, as there was no good relationship between Iran and the United States at the time of the Bam earthquake, but sanctions were suspended for several months due to the crisis.”
The mayor of Istanbul said: "I note that there is a problem of sanctions and other problems in Iran that the people and cities of Iran are struggling with, but my advice is that you send us your experiences as we do. Istanbul is prepared for cooperation in all fields to counter this pandemic.”
In the meeting with the mayor of Tehran, the mayor of Muscat said: "Sanctions have also hit the people and the Islamic Republic of Iran, but the Iranians have shown their high ability to deal with sanctions. Oman's stance on US sanctions against Iran has always been clear and has always sought to play a supporting role in Iran. We are all creatures of God and we must help each other. Oman's relationship with the Islamic Republic of Iran is a historical one, and it has always been strong in various contexts."
