The ambassador of the Czech Republic, Josef Rychtar, met with the Mayor of Tehran, Piruz Hanachi, and proposed to him an exchange of experiences and cooperation in the construction of inter-city rail services and electric buses.
In this meeting, the ambassador of the Czech Republic praised the beauties of Tehran and invited the mayor to pay a visit to Prague. He also welcomed the cooperation between Tehran and Prague in the public transport development, stating that the Czech Republic has good experience in building sustainable city through public rail transport and electric buses and can share ideas and experiences with Iran.
During the meeting, Dr. Hanachi referred to the car-free Tuesdays and offered the Czech Republic ambassador to accompany him on one of these Tuesdays, which was warmly welcomed by Josef Rychtar. The mayor of Tehran and the Czech Republic ambassador also discussed the experiences of the two countries at the time of Covid-19 pandemic. In this regard, the ambassador of the Czech Republic said: “Tehran has valuable experiences against Corona and I hope this disease will be eradicated from human society”.
Making reference to US oppressive sanctions against Iran, the mayor of Tehran said: "We were fighting at two fronts at the same time, one with the unilateral and illegal sanctions and the Coronavirus from the other side which imposed us difficulties in both complying with health protocols and economic activities.”
Rychtar also responded that the Czech Republic standing against US unilateralism, and added: "I hope the sanctions will be lifted with the new US administration in place and the two countries will have better opportunity to cooperate actively."
