The Mayor of Tehran and the Malaysian ambassador highlighted the cooperation between Tehran and Kuala Lumpur to solve the problems of the two capitals in a bilateral meeting.
In this meeting, Pirooz Hanachi, the Mayor of Tehran, while referring to the history of friendship between the two nations said: "Malaysia is among those Islamic countries that is very popular among Iranians and Malaysia was one of the ultimate tourist destinations for Iranian before the pandemic.”
Referring to the exchange of experience between Tehran and Kuala Lumpur, he added: "In addition to the common problems in metropolises such as air pollution and traffic, Tehran is confronted by serious problem of earthquake. At the same time, Tehran is eager for cooperation and exchange with Kuala Lumpur in the field of crisis management.”
Following the meeting, Datuk Rustam Yahaya, the ambassador of Malaysia to Iran, pointed to the long history of the two countries and said: "My diplomatic mission in Tehran is reaching to its end and I will be leaving Tehran in an early future. So, I thank the Iranians for their hospitality, I really enjoyed my time in Iran. Malaysia has always respected the Iranian nation and in recent years repeatedly opposed the unilateral and illegal sanctions.”
He added: "I hope that the problem of sanctions to be resolved soon, so, Iran and Malaysia will be able to have deeper cooperation with each other. Consequently, a large Malaysian economic deputations will come to Tehran to inquire about the areas of cooperation between the two countries.”
The Malaysian ambassador also mentioned: "Malaysia as a study destination, is currently hosting and welcoming Iranian students." He emphasized the cooperation between the capitals of the two countries in solving the problems of the metropolises and said: "Kuala Lumpur also seeks Tehran's experience and tends to expand the cooperation between the two cities."
