The year that past was a difficult, bitter and anxiety ridden year for the people of the world and people of Iran. People all around the world were anxiously witnessing the fate of the pandemic; some grappled with it, and some lost their loved ones to it. We Iranians, due to our confrontation with the atrocious sanctions and full-fledged economic war imposed by the enemies of Iran, experienced manifold economic and health difficulties and yet, in spite of it all, people retained their unity and created lasting images of altruism and sacrifice. No doubt that the frontier heroes of this difficult year were the dedicated medical staff. Least of our duty is gratitude for their toil and devotion.
At the end of this difficult year, I find it necessary for myself to empathize with all those who lost their loved ones, or endured damage and hardship. Also, as the representative of people to manage the city affairs, I apologize for deficiencies and I hope to secure a more successful year for the citizens of Tehran. I also wish that with the grace of God, the grim shadow of the pandemic will be wiped away from everyone’s life; and I hope that with solidarity and concordance of various strata of people and thoughtful behavior of world politicians, Iranian nation can gloriously overcome the atrocious sanctions; peace and patience and thoughtfulness reign everywhere, and Iranian people alongside other people of the world anticipate a year of no danger, filled with serenity, happiness, hope, well-being, improvement of life situation and blessings.
