Mayor of Tehran: Tehran Is Ready to Hold UNWTO Mayors Forum for Sustainable Urban Tourism

Dr. Alireza Zakani, The Mayor of Tehran, Considered Tehran ready to hold UNWTO Mayors Forum for Sustainable Urban Tourism.

Ali Asghar Shalbafian, Deputy Minister of Tourism of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts, on November 30th met with Zurab Plolikashvili, Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization in Madrid.
During the meeting, Shalbafian presented a report on the latest plans and programs of the Islamic Republic of Iran about tourism to the Secretary-General and specified that the transformation document, which will be announced by the President soon, pays special attention to the field of tourism.
Hassan Qashqavi, Iranian ambassador to Spain, who was present at the meeting, also submitted a letter from Tehran Mayor Alireza Zakani to the Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization announcing his readiness to host the 10th UNWTO Mayors Forum for Sustainable Urban Tourism.
Zurab Pololikashvili, in turn, while congratulating the appointment of Mr. Ezatullah Zarghami as Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of our country, praised and thanked him for his will to create change in the field of tourism.
While supporting Iran's tourism projects, including the establishment of an international center for tourism and handicrafts, he once again expressed his gratitude for the support of the Islamic Republic of Iran to him at the head of this international organization.
Our Deputy Minister of Tourism has traveled to Spain to participate in the 24th session of the General Assembly of the International Tourism Organization. The international headquarters of this international organization is in Madrid.
